Almost every one of us will experience joint pain in our lifetime, especially after turning 40. Pain in joints can be caused by a variety of factors, including inflammation, cartilage degeneration, crystal deposition, infection, and trauma. The aging process causes your bones to lose their elasticity and wear away, reducing their mobility and stiffening them. In turn, this may cause arthritis later in life. As per Ayurveda, joint pain is caused by an imbalance in the dosha of the body known as Vata. An imbalance in a Vata form known as Vyanavata can result in circulation problems, which causes tissues to be malnourished. This causes wear and tear in the joints, resulting in severe pain. The Shleshaka Kapha is another form of energy that keeps joints lubricated and enables smooth movement. The imbalance of Doshas weakens the digestive fire, causing the accumulation of toxins. Through Vata, toxins make their way to the joints, where they cause pain. The Shleshaka Kapha becomes dry as a
